This sculpture shows a well-worn, 1950 Chevy “Bullnose” that has put in several hundred thousand miles in the Arizona Sonoran Desert. It was owned by a crusty old farmer who turned landscaper and used to go out into the desert and collect cactus for his customers. He would bring them back and plant them in their yard. Most popular was the giant Saguaro Cactus, often taking up the entire truck-bed. One day and one mile too much, the truck’s rear axel gave out and the old man took off the tire to see if he could fix it. He had to leave it right where it was as you will notice a freshly picked Saguaro Cactus in the back. Notice the exact detail of the rust, dirt and wear and tear. The right rear fender had to be replaced with a transplant from another truck. With very little upkeep, maintenance and paint, the truck became a beautiful rust color.
